After four years of college football I realized that I was too skinny and fragile "The Paper Tiger" to withstand the beating of college linebackers; so I hung up the cleats and decided to "Kick Start my Swim, Bike and Runnin’ Heart". I was 23 when I raced my first Ironman Triathlon. I was told the Ironman would change my life and it did in more ways than one. But none more important than understanding that our personal limits are meant to be broken. Pushing through the intense pain, the fatigue and mental struggle with no choice but to finish the 140.6 mile race, I had conquered my toughest opponent, MYSELF. "The 1st and very best victory is to conquer self"- Plato

The idea to create an energy bar came to me while reflecting on the Ironman. I realized the serious need for a GREAT tasting, MOIST energy bar that down right serves the purpose. I had to find a way to make it happen! At the time I was bartending, training and funding the project. With Moms help and of course her kitchen we got to work. After a few months of trial and error we nailed the PB&J bar. For the first 10 months or so we must have made thousands of bars for ourselves, our friends and sampling our bars at running events, cycling event, triathlons and kids programs. Now that we’re not making the bars out of Moms kitchen, she has nothing to do at night.

Thanks to word of mouth and a great effort on our part in exposing our product every chance we got, we won Competitor Magazine’s "Best of 06" for the Energy Bar category of Southern California above the big shots. I’d say a dang good first year!
